We strive to restore your health and decrease your pain as quickly and affordably as possible. Every attempt is made to address your health concerns in a natural manner, without the use of drugs or surgery. If, however, your condition requires further evaluation such as x-rays, MRIs or CT scans, our office can provide those referrals. If it is determined that a medical consultation is indicated, you will be referred to the appropriate medical specialist.
With respect to your chiropractic treatment at our office, you will receive treatment on your first visit. X-rays are not routinely performed, and are only recommended when appropriate, based on your condition/injury. In our office all treatments are performed personally by the doctor. We believe that treatment should be performed by the doctor himself and not by an assistant. By performing all of the treatments personally, there is an assurance that the treatments are being performed properly.
At our office you will receive the appropriate amount of treatment necessary to resolve your condition. No long-term treatment commitments or contracts are required.
We will bill your insurance company for you. We currently accept most major insurance companies, medicare, auto accidents, and workers compensation. Please call us to verify your coverage.
Our patients' health and well-being remain the primary concern at our office. We value the trust that our patients place in us by choosing us as their healthcare provider.
You can always be assured that at Elko Chiropractic
"WE'VE GOT YOUR BACK"
Regarding spinal manipulation (chiropractic adjustment), our doctors utilize the “Palmer” technique, Diversified technique, Thompson Drop and Activator (non-force) technique. The type of technique that will be recommended for your treatment will depend on the nature of your condition, age, and overall health.
Our doctors use various physiotherapy therapies to enhance the effects of the spinal manipulation. The office has therapies that are used for relaxation of the muscles (Hydrotherapy Massage), deep heating of the muscles (Ultrasound), and to decrease joint pain and inflammation (Interferrential current).
At Elko Chiropractic both of our doctors can perform CDL/DOT physicals and are listed on the “National Registry of Medical Examiners”.
We are the only treatment facility in Elko County to provide Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for our patients.
Our office offers food allergy testing via ELISA. This is a food allergy test that will allow the doctor to make very specific dietary recommendations to the patient. Research has shown that conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, headaches, hyperactivity in children, ADHD respond favorably to specific dietary restrictions and targeted supplements.
Dr. Ward, and Dr. Morris are both listed on the “National Registry of Medical Examiners” to perform CDL/DOT physicals. As of May of 2013, only physicians listed on the National Registry will be allowed to perform CDL/DOT physicals. The National Registry was developed to provide certification for physicians performing these important physicals, assuring that the physical will meet set standards in order to protect the public health. Our doctors take this responsibility very seriously, as the health and well-being of the public remains the primary concern.
Our office is also a certified collection facility for drug testing. We are currently performing drug testing for programs at Great Basin College (GBC), as well as many other businesses and agencies in the region.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a medical procedure that enhances the body's natural healing process. It accomplishes this by bringing oxygen to tissues of the body that have either been injured or are lacking adequate blood supply. Normally, oxygen is distributed to the tissues and organs of the body by red blood cells. Hyperbaric therapy consists of exposure to concentrated oxygen under pressure. This process allows us to saturate the red blood cells with oxygen and also forces free oxygen into the body fluids, including the plasma, lymphatics and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This additional oxygen helps the body to repair and restore damaged tissues and organs. Recent studies have also shown that hyperbaric oxygen therapy stimulates the body's bone marrow to produce stem cells. These stem cells are undifferentiated cells that can basically become any cell type upon maturity. These stem cells can travel to damaged tissues in the body and help repair the damage. It is also postulated that these stem cells can help repair damaged nerve cells, helping patients with nerve injuries, spinal cord injuries and closed head injuries/stroke.
In our office, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been successfully utilized as a treatment modality for delayed wound healing, postsurgical healing, autism spectrum disorder, migraine headaches, fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome, Lyme disease, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, macular degeneration, stroke, diabetes, dementia, concussion, etc. Recently, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been increasingly used by professional athletes, to increase stamina, decrease recovery time, and increase mental alertness.
There are no “side effects” to hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which makes it one of the few medical therapies that can make this claim. During treatment the patient lays on a mat in the hyperbaric chamber and while breathing supplemental oxygen, the chamber is pressurized. The only discomfort that some patients have noted is a feeling of fullness in the ears, which occurs while the chamber is pressurizing and de-pressurizing. This discomfort is temporary and is not experienced by the majority of patients.
If you are curious as to whether your condition would respond to hyperbaric oxygen therapy, you can come into the office for a no charge consultation, or do a Google search with “your condition” and “hyperbaric oxygen therapy”.
On November 10, 2024 CBS Sunday Morning broadcasted Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy as a "promising new treatment for PTSD". Click the link to view the segment here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6dmWX238uc
Dr. Dean Ward has been in practice since 1985, and is an honors graduate of the National College of Chiropractic. He received his bachelors of science in human biology prior to completing his doctorate of chiropractic. He was raised in Chicago, but had always dreamed of living out west. Following graduation from chiropractic college he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and practiced there for nearly 20 years prior to moving to Elko in 2003.
Shortly after moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1985 he met his soon-to-be wife, Korri, and they were married in 1988. Korri taught high school in Las Vegas, but put her career on hold to raise their twin sons who were born in 1993. Once the twins were nearing 10 years old, they decided that Las Vegas may not be the best place to raise their children. Dr. Ward had been to Elko on many occasions, performing medical examinations for the state worker’s compensation system. On one such trip to Elko in May of 2003, Korri came along to check out Elko. They returned to Las Vegas, put the house up for sale and moved to Elko in August of that same year. The family all agree that the move to Elko was the best move that they could have made. They love the small-town feel of Elko and the abundant recreational opportunities of the region.
